Battle of the Sexes Review

Battle of the Sexes stars Steve Carell and Emma Stone and tells the true story of the 1973 tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. As a whole, the movie is very good. Strong performances are delivered by Carell and Stone, as well as supporting performances from Sarah Silverman and Alan Cummings. The movie has a gorgeous aesthetic - Linus Sandgren produces great cinematography. The color pallet match the tones of the movie and makes for a great artistic product.

In addition, the film tells an extremely compelling true story. The story deals with the issues of sexism, one's own sexuality and the other challenges Billie Jean King (Stone) encounters. Leading up to awards season, the film makes for an early Oscar contender for possible acting, writing, and cinematography nominations. Overall, Battle of the Sexes is a pretty film to see and is matched with sincere performances and an endearing script, creating a very solid movie viewers should keep an eye out for when awards season starts.
