Earlier this week, “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek announced his return to hosting the show after the end of his chemotherapy.
Trebek, 79, announced his diagnosis of stage four pancreatic cancer on March 6, 2019. While estimates vary, the five-year survival rate for those with stage four pancreatic cancer is under one in ten.
According to Trebek, he seems to be “near remission,” and beating the odds of pancreatic cancer.
Trebek remained positive regarding the diagnosis, joking his contract for “Jeopardy!” lasted three more years, therefore he couldn’t be finished yet.
Trebek is currently preparing for the 36th season of “Jeopardy!”, which he has hosted since 1984. The season premiere will air Monday, September 9th.
“I’m on the mend,” Trebek said. “That’s all I can hope for right now.”
